Obama salutes Roe v Wade

Sad. President Bush used to send messages og hope to the March for Life and the pro-life community. Shame on all the pro-life Catholics who voted for someome who not only believes abortion is wonderful - and who even worked to deny living babies from botched abortion the right to medical care - but also teaches the citizenry that abortion is a "constittuional right.

So if abortion is a private family matter, can we kill crazy old grandma?

Obama recalls Roe v Wade. backs abortion rights

President Obama echoed his support for abortion rights today, the 38th anniversary of the Supreme Court's pro-choice decision in Roe v. Wade.

"Government should not intrude on private family matters," Obama said in a statement, adding that he also supports policies to prevented "unintended pregnancies."

The president made his statement as thousands of abortion opponents planned annual March for Life rallies, with many hoping that the new Republican-run House will enact new restrictions on the practice.

"We are seeing a cultural shift toward protecting life and rolling back the tide of unrestricted abortions," said Charmaine Yoest, president of Americans United for Life.

Obama's statement:

Today marks the 38th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the Supreme Court decision that protects women's health and reproductive freedom, and affirms a fundamental principle: that government should not intrude on private family matters.

I am committed to protecting this constitutional right. I also remain committed to policies, initiatives, and programs that help prevent unintended pregnancies, support pregnant women and mothers, encourage healthy relationships, and promote adoption.

And on this anniversary, I hope that we will recommit ourselves more broadly to ensuring that our daughters have the same rights, the same freedoms, and the same opportunities as our sons to fulfill their dreams.

Love,

Well... too bad 25 million or so little girls won't be able to fulfill ANY dreams, Mr. President. But let's cut the anniversary cake anyway.
Satan sure is good at blinding people. Pray for a change of heart on this day of mourning.
BTW love the blog barbara!

President Obama has been named as the most pro-abortion President in U.S. history by the American Center for Law and Justice. He is an absolute enemy of the Pro Life Movement.

I actually agree with something this president has said!!! I do agree that our daughters should have the same rights, freedoms and opportunities as our sons. However, I think we have very different ideas about what that would look like. In my book it would mean that sons/boys/men need to be held just as responsible for a child they create. Until men grow up and take responsibility for their actions we will continue to have a culture that is broken. I believe in raising both my sons and my daughters to take responsibility for their actions, while also striving to make their dreams come true. Freedom without responsibility just can not work and until we face those facts I fear we will not achieve true freedom or opportunity.

My question is what constitutes a "private family matter"? The answer to that is that if he has his way, less and less will become private as he grows the size of the government. I agree that the government should not interfere in private family matters.

He talks out of both sides of his mouth and twists things to suit his own purposes and agenda. Thank God there are a lot of us who just don't buy it.

I firmly believe in the sanctity of life, from womb to tomb, per the teaching of my Bible and the Catholic church. Abortion isn't the answer. Taking back our families is. We absolutely MUST teach our daughters that they are treasures worth waiting for. Likewise, we must teach our sons respect for women. I believe that is the first step on the road to cleaning up this mess we've created. It may not be a popular opinion, but I think my generation of parents (40-somethings) has failed our children in not teaching them that modesty and chastity are the only choice.

@Christy- My thoughts exactly! He thinks the govt should stay out of a woman's "right" to kill her baby...but healthcare? Taxes? Food? Business? Anything else a person does in life is clearly up for government grabs!

Why does Obama celebrate the right to kill babies in the womb by saying that "Government should not intrude on private family matters", yet believes it's OK to intrude on family matters with "death panels" (my understanding is that they were taken out of ObamaCare, but the Pres would include them if he could--and maybe he'll sneak them back in) and have his Supernanny wife travel around the country telling us what to eat?

Clearly, the man is very selective as to what constitutes government intrusion into private family matters. At the same time, he has a fixation with the most extreme radical Democratic agenda and has never met an abortion he didn't like (save for the one his mother didn't have).

Today, the anniversary of Roe v. Wade, should be observed as Right to Life Day, rather than the celebration of the right to "choose", as the current occupant of the White House did in 2011.
