Loudoun: gluten-free pizza
Did you know we have a place that makes gluten-free pizza in Leesburg (and Ashburn?)
Since Jesse has been diagnosed with celiac disease, he is supposed to steer clear of gluten. But since he has no symptoms, we don't go the full route of reading salad dressing labels and so on.
Originally I was worried that since he has Down syndrome and autism he wouldn't understand why he couldn't eat some things other people were eating - especially because he was really crazy about bread and pasta. With pasta, I use gluten-free products from Amazon. When we have sandwiches, I simply roll up turkey or chicken and cheese and he is happy. And he loves salads, so that is great.
The big problem was pizza - until I found that Fireworks in Leesburg makes a great gluten-free pizza. Now Tripp gets our pizza at Costco and stops by Fireworks to pick up one for Jesse (I know Fireworks has great pizza, but trying to be sensible with our money).
Anyway - if anyone in your family has gluten issues, do give Fireworks a try!

We're no longer in NOVA, but check Wegmans and Trader Joes (among others) for Udi's g-f pizza crusts in the freezer section. They come in handy!
