Pro-life movement today: yellow balloons and love
Remember the yellow balloons? Pro-life Flash Mob surprises Chicago "Walk for Choice"?
They're up to their old tricks again! I must say, I love the yellow balloons and think we ought to adopt them nationwide as our symbol. And the whimsical, heart-stirring music from Lord of the Rings and The Mission fits so perfectly with the intent of these youthful advocates for life.
In the first, they are also honoring Joe Sheidler, one of the founding fathers of the pro-life movement. For younger readers, the pro-life movement has shifted dramatically over the 38 years since Roe v. Wade. The best summary I have seen in the shift of focus was published in World magazine 1/17/2009: Pro-Life pivot by Marvin Olasky. Well worth reading, and I am proud to say my son Ben married one of the daughters of the late Guy Condon, the person responsible for changing the direction of the movement - the "pivot" in Olasky's title.
The love, compassion, exuberance - and the yellow balloons - evident in this Chicago group are very much in the new tradition of pro-life advocacy:
Love it!! We definitely need to add some of those cheerful yellow balloons to our end of campaign rally for the 40 DFL! I think that the wonderful music is from The Mission (love that movie :)

Where can we get the yellow balloons that have LIFE on them? I have looked every where and cannot find them to order.

WoW! How refreshing to see bold and confident youngsters not afraid to stand up for the Holy Spirit Lord and Giver of LIFE! Now, why is this not happening in every city in America? I'd like to see our bishops and priests out in droves with yellow balloons too. It is time for all who profess to love God to take a bold stand against the culture of death and self worship.

See http://mommylife.net/archives/2011/04/yellow_balloons.html to order from the group in Chicago - or google custom balloons to order from any balloon place.
