The Kennedys - controversial series starts tonight 4/3
The Kennedys - Trailer (8-Part Movie Event)
I am definitely in for this! In case you missed the story last year, HBO contracted, completed and scheduled this series - then killed it under pressure from the Kennedys. That probably did more harm than good because now it's scheduled for a more accessible channel and everyone wants to see it.
I'm old enough that I was definitely on the Kennedy bandwagon as a young girl. I was in 10th grade in a Catholic high school the day he was assassinated. It was as thought the world had stopped.
At that time, the press cooperated in keeping the peccadilloes of presidents out of the news - but come to think of it, Kennedy was a Democrat, they probably wouldn't have conspired to keep a Republican's scandals hidden.
But one thing has changed: In terms of policy, Kennedy was closer to today's Republicans than to today's Democrats. Which is why I tell people still voting Democrat out of ignorance (not knowing the actual platform and policies) and loyalty (because their parents did): Today's Democrat party is not the same as your parents or grandparents. It's been co-opted by radical Leftist and anti-American factions. Obama and his administration are intent on dismantling our free enterprise system and destroying American exceptionalism and our way of life.
But back to the Kennedys: There are some good actors here - but I'm wondering if Katie Holmes will prove up to the job of portraying Jackie. She does look a lot like her, but there was something very unique and mysterious about Jackie.
Who else will be watching? What do you think?

I am much younger (born in 1976), but I agree that today's Democratic party is not the same as back then. My grandparents (Italian Catholic immigrants) were Democrats. They are both deceased but would be appalled at the Democratic party of today. What I wonder, though, is if John F. Kennedy was actually closer to today's Republicans, what happened along the way to his daughter and his nieces and nephews who are so far to the left and such staunch Obama and Hillary supporters?

I've seen a few minutes so far, nothing new in terms of behind the scenes shenanigans, but refreshing to see it actually PORTRAYED...and Barry Pepper as Bobby Kennedy is the best thing about this series, he is astounding.
