Developing: Catholic Montessori school in Leesburg

A group of Catholic parents is working to establish a new Catholic Montessori-based school in Leesburg, to begin with toddler through 5th grade.

They are hiring well-qualified staff and I have been asked to be on the advisory board.

The Piedmont School will be holding an informational meeting Saturday in Leesburg. Please spread the word.

Anyone interested should feel welcome to come:

Dear Parents and Supporters of The Piedmont School,

Thank you for all of your interest! We are pleased to announce that our next event will be held on Saturday, May 14 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Leesburg, VA.  This event will feature Maggie Radzik, the foundress and Head Catechist of Siena Academy, a Catholic Montessori School in Great Falls, VA and Jessica McGibbon, Ph.D., Curriculum Director and 4th/5th grade teacher at The Piedmont School. A light breakfast and babysitting will be provided.

The agenda is as follows:

9:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. - The Steering Committee will present an update on the site selection process and administrative items.

10 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. - Maggie Radzik - Why Montessori?  (Maggie will discuss the Montessori "Method" and Catechesis of the Good Shepherd from 10 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. with Q&A from 10:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.)

11:15 a.m. - noon - Jessica McGibbon will discuss the classical curriculum for the 4th/5th grade from 11:15 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. with Q & A from 11:45 a.m. to noon.

Please see below for the speaker biographies and look for an Evite with additional information, including location, in your inbox early next week.

Also, please forward the names and e-mails of anyone you know who might be interested in The Piedmont School (school overview attached). We look forward to seeing you all on Saturday, May 14th at 9:30 a.m.
