Hattie update
Just talked to Josh. They've located the location of the spinal fluid leak. Tomorrow at 10am Hattie will have a surgery to try to patch it with blood cells and tissue and/or to attach a small shunt which will carry the fluid into her stomach where I guess it will be dealt with somehow.
(I don't pretend to understand this all. Tripp says this is why doctors "practice" medicine. Sometimes it seems pretty creative.)
If all goes well, that will be the end of that - the shunt can stay in place without harming anything. The worst outcome would be that Hattie would get severe headaches - then they would remove the shunt, but by then hopefully the leak will have healed.
Josh and Hattie are waiting today. He is hoping to be able to take her outside in a wheelchair to enjoy the beautiful weather we're having here. Please pray that they will find moments to enjoy.
Pray the surgery goes well tomorrow. It will take a couple of hours. She will be in the hospital over the weekend, then back to her family's where there are lots of people to take care of her.
Once she is healed sufficiently - a couple months maybe - she will be beginning chemotherapy for tumors in her hip and one on her lung. Pray for healing, comfort, God's loving presence, special blessings for a couple who's known so much hardship for four out of five years of marriage.
Teach your children to choose their spouses carefully. You just never know what you will go through together.

Oh Barbara, do you feel like you're on the proverbial rollercoaster? I'm sorry and will be praying.

Barbara,
I've been praying for Hattie and offering up my sufferings for her. She keeps coming to mind so I keep praying and praying for her. Josh is so right, God is in control. Even though suffering can be so bitter, the beautiful part is knowing our Lord is in our midst.
