America's Got Talent: Cindy Chang sings Puccini

Cindy Chang, 42 ~ America's Got Talent 2011, Auditions

A lesson for all parents: do not prevent your child from realizing their calling because the arts are too risky.

Sophia has told me that she's heard many times, "You're a theater major? I wanted to major in theater but my parents said I had to be more practical."

Love,

I wanted to be a piano teacher, but my parents wouldn't go for it. I got my degree in chemistry, but now I am am a private piano teacher. Should have followed my dream, but still am happy.

Sue, I am also a private piano teacher. The professor jobs are very hard to come by. I got my degree in Music Industry but didn't follow the dream after(long story). I am now following my true dream of being a stay-at-home mom while playing church organ and getting paid for it. It may not be fancy or impressive to a lot of people but it makes me very happy. I can go to mass, offer my music and prayers to God AND get paid for it.

I think that sometimes, we can get what truly makes us happy despite ourselves (big smile). Does that make sense?
