Les Miserables book study - notes, maps, music too
Two summers ago, some readers and I embarked on an in-depth reading of Les Miserables. This wasn't simply a discussion, but a richly-packed study with links to Internet resources covering everything from French pronunciation to Google maps to research on landmarks mentioned in the text. Also included were clips to the music from the beloved Broadway musical.
My study guide is still available and all are welcome to use the material for their families or book clubs.
Simply click on Les Miserables to bring up the entries, scroll to the bottom and move up as you progress. Be sure to read the comments as my readers shared many insights as we read together - and feel free to leave your own.
As I noted in one of the preparation entries, the translation you use makes all the difference in the world. There is only one I recommend, which every reader in our house has read at least once - and some of us three times. Amazon has used copies for as little as 1 cent.
Let me know if you're thinking of doing this over the summer - it will greatly enrich your family life if you read and discuss with your teens!

I just took my two daughters to the touring Broadway show for my oldest daughter's 13th birthday. I have just happened upon your blog. Both girls want to read the unabridged version so I was thinking about making it a unit study (we homeschool). How do I access the maps, etc. And we bought the book you recommended. THANKS!!! This will be really amazing!
