The Beatles: first US concert 2/11/64
I was there - February 11, 1964 at the Washington Coliseum - for their first concert with my best friend Candy. Her dad dropped us off and picked us up when it was over. We threw jelly beans at Ringo because he'd said in an interview he liked them, then picked up the ones on the stage that had been stepped on and taped them in our scrapbooks. We screamed so hard we couldn't talk for days.
Things were simpler then and just as exciting without the pyrotechnics. We were so close to the stage.
Most girls liked Paul the best. I liked John because he was considered the intellectual. Candy liked George because no one else did and she was very deliberately nonconformist.

Truly one of the milestone dates on the journey of the USA into decadence and barbarism.

I guess that's one way of looking at it.

Memories...I was 13 when The Beatles came to New Orleans. My aunt, 16 yrs older than I, picked me up from high school. She was a fan of John and I was a fan of Paul. I have more memories, but too lengthy here. Anyway, we didn't fall into the flower child group-pot smoking and all that stuff. We remained true to our Catholic faith, though saddened about John Lennon's death, I pray for his soul and still pray for Paul. Thanks for the post.
BTW, turned out to be a nfp teacher and homeschool mom! Love your site.
