Queen Michelle not satisfied with McDonald's changes

From one of our favorite sites: ObamaFoodarama, which chronicles the epicurean delights and party hearty sensibilities of the current occupants of the White House, as well as their do-as-we-say-not-as-we-do dictates to everyday people like us:

First Lady Michelle Obama Issues Statement About McDonald's Happy Meal Changes

Kids meals will automatically include a fruit/vegetable, right beside the French fries...
McDonald's Corporation this morning announced that it will make efforts to improve the nutritional quality of its children's foods by automatically including a small portion of produce in its boxed Happy Meals, as well as trimming some fat and calories from its offerings. First Lady Michelle Obama issued a statement in response, calling the plans "positive steps" toward her goal of ending childhood obesity, but otherwise Mrs. Obama adopted a wait-and-see attitude, saying she "looks forward" to the company's "efforts in the years to come."

McDonald's has put a toe into the Let's Move! pool, but the changes were neither broad enough nor deep enough to warrant Mrs. Obama inviting executives to the White House for their announcement, as she did last week when she joined executives from some of America's largest grocery chains for an East Room announcement of their commitments to open stores in food deserts.  Instead, McDonald's USA president Jan Fields unveiled the Happy Meal changes during a video appearance on ABC's Good Morning America.

Gee whiz, who died and made her queen? Last I checked McDonald's was a private company. Bully!

these articles and others like them are why I keep reading your blog-I will be seriously bummed out if you stop commenting on the political scene. Through your blog I have discovered a lot of very good conservative websites, but none of the balance that yours does. Of course, I truly understand your need to diverge, but just know that I haven't yet found another blog that does what yours does.

Have been reading your column in the Catholic Herald, and today decided to check out the MommyLife site. Was disappointed to see you refer to the First Lady as "Queen Michelle." Is it not possible to have differing opinions without resorting to sarcasm? We all must find a way to communicate differences in a respectful way if we are to make progress in any arena.

Laurie, if you don't like me referring to the current occupant of the White House as Queen Michelle, you probably will find a lot you don't like here, so I suggest you stick to reading me at the Catholic Herald.

Sarcasm is an old and venerable form of political humor (think Mark Twain) which manages to sum up in a few words what would have otherwise take a few hundred. I can list for you the reasons why I call her Queen Michelle or you can think about it and see if you can guess why.

I don't appreciate the fact that an unelected individual is spending millions bossing the commoners in this country around while she does the opposite of what she preaches.

But you see, calling her Queen Michelle makes my point without all the unnecessary words.
