Obama exploits Irene as campaign stop

obirene2.jpgWould someone please explain to me why Obama is making this grandiose effort to be involved in the "aftermath" of Hurricane Irene - which is essentially just another storm - when in the past three years he completely IGNORED the Tennessee floods, Arizona and Texas wildfires, and numerous Midwest flooding and tornadoes?

It makes me wonder whether the Propaganda Press purposely exaggerated the hurricane's threat to provide him with these photo ops as part of the gearing-up of Obama's 2012 campaign.

Or is it because it was the Northeast and not flyover country?

Obama wasn't concerned with financial aid for those who were truly devastated in the above-mentioned disasters, and yet he's promising the gubmint will take care of all those who got a little too much rain. I think the MSM were secretly hoping it would be another Katrina so they could contrast Obama with the voodoo doll they made of Bush after Katrina.

Never forget we are already in full campaign mode. Every move Obama makes will be carefully scripted to play into his re-election campaign, certainly not to do what is best for our country.

Love,

I think you're spot on. This was gearing up to be Obama's "Katrina" and it was seen as a chance to be compared to Bush - a political move for re-election. Never let a crisis go to waste, right?
The historic flooding in the midwest, the drought in Texas, the tornadoes . . . they didn't happen during a politically convenient time or to a politically valuable population (NYC, D.C., the liberal NE).
It is taking every ounce of my strength not to hate this man.

I'm not convinced that this was an over-hype ahead of time. Chris Christie was pretty on top of things. (Of course, he'd have to be for political reasons, too).

I really suspect that this storm was prayed away into a tropical storm. A lot of damage still done but not to the degree it could have been.

Jennifer, don't hate the man. The only enemy we really have is Satan. Pray for Obama.

I think you're right Sue - they were truly worried about it in the beginning. But then they kept hyping and lying about it as it continued to fizzle out - with Anderson Cooper claiming to be in the middle of a terrible storm while people went about their business inthe background.

It became ludicrous as Obama "took the reins" at FEMA long after it was lear that this was not a catastrophe, and continued playacting as though it were anything other than an big storm like we get several times a year.

Kind of an Emperor's New Clothes thing.

Well, I have no doubt, Barbara, that the media would use whatever they could to prop the guy up. I noticed, too, how all of a sudden, Obama was taking charge. (laugh)

One of the differences between Katrina and Irene was that, I believe, all of the governors were very pro-active with Irene. The mayor of New Orleans was lousy and the governor of Louisiana didn't get the job done. Now, maybe that played a big part of why Cuomo, Christie and all the others yelled for people to take cover the way they did.

It just seemed to me like Obama came in as an after thought when he couldn't finish his actual vacation anymore. "Oh well...might as well use it as a photo-op."
