When in January 2011 Newsweek named Grand Rapids one of 10 Dying Cities. two social entrepreneurs decided not to let the insult stand. Rob Bliss and Rick DeVos gathered a cast of thousands to produce the following video, which has garnered more than 4 million hits on YouTube and which film critic Roger Ebert called "The Greatest Music Video Ever Made":

Barbara,
Thanks for this! Not only did we do this, but the DeVos's also began www.ArtPrize.org a radically different artists competition. We have amazing pieces of art all over our town (about 1500 total pieces, in over 100 venues, in my estimation). We have artists that compete for $250,000 top prize, come from all over the world. People come from all over the world to view the art as well. You may all enjoy this point work: http://katecreating.blogspot.com/ I have seen it in person, and it is amazing! It is a life size pic of the pieta, absolutely beautiful.
