Domestic Tranquility

Mommy Matters

moiDear Moms -

Remember way back when you needed things just right before you could fall asleep?  My, how our lives as mommies have changed.  Napping is just part of multi-tasking - we're grateful for even five minutes while the kids tear the house apart.

And for the record - anyone who pretends motherhood is one beautiful Mary Cassatt painting after another isn't worth your time.  Yes, those images touch the tender spaces of our hearts, but still we have to keep it real.  Keep looking for authenticity and love - you need both to keep going.

Our kids have now been back in school - at home or where we've felt led to send them - for a few weeks.  Many of us have become engaged politically in a way we never expected when we first started our families.  We've faced up to the fact that domestic tranquility means more than just what is going on in our homes, but what is going on in our country.  We're ratcheting up our capacity to make a difference - and the power for change is coming in large part from moms using social media to spread news ignored or spun by media intent on keeping the status quo.

After years of being relegated to "just a mother," we're gaining a sense of how important mothers really are.

So much to be done!  Like Moses, we may answer God's call by listing our inadequacies, yet He beckons us on into His glorious plans for each of our lives.  You need never fear that He is asking too much.  Remember always that God doesn't call the equipped - He equips the called.

Work hard, but take care of yourselves - even if it's five minutes of couch time.

Coat flip - she can do it herself!

Your children will be so happy when you teach them how to do it themselves!

My fellow parenting pilgrims:

This time last year, we were just starting to organize for some REAL hope and change, with no idea how the November elections would shake the Liberal Establishment and finally begin to turn the ship around.

But that was only the beginning. Momentum has continued to build as the grassroots movement of the people, by the people and for the people - otherwise known as the Tea Party - has risen above the media lies and growing numbers understand what it is all about.

Please be sure you are registered to vote at your current address and that you have the proper ID.  If you have children who have had their 18th birthday, make sure they are registered too.  College students should request absentee ballots.

Every vote counts!

Please know that I pray for you daily.  And I hope you will pray for me.

Enjoy the transition we will be going through together as summer turns to fall. Get outdoors and enjoy your children.  Make a joyful noise!

Love,
Barbara
