Advent/Christmas family spiritual preparation

empty manger.jpg
This is an absolutely beautiful Advent/Christmas preparation for the family
.  Very simple language, concrete images which will make the concepts real for children - but profound spiritual work.

I am using it myself, and hope some of you like it too!

It's published as a PDF file with illustrations. If you cannot open the PDF file, you can find a text version here.

Here is the beginning and today's thought:

Christmas Preparation Calendar

The following directions show you how to build a spiritual crib in your heart for Christ.  Use it to put Christ into your Christmas in a real, living way.
  • Start on December1
  • Read the thought indicated about Christ's first crib
  • Practice it during the day
  • Do this daily during December and make your heart a worthy crib for Christ on Christmas Day
December 1 - The STABLE
Frequently during the day offer your heart to the little infant Jesus,  Ask Him to make it His home
Sweet Jesus, take my heart and make it meek and pure.

See what I mean about how suitable this is for the child's imagination?  I really think you will love doing this with your children each day - even the littlest.  You can act it out or do art projects - and remind each other through the day of the prayers to Jesus, helping them memorize them so they will be always in their hearts.
Love,

This is beautiful! I no longer have any little ones - youngest is 12 - but this looks meaningful for any age!
