Adventures in Odyssey: the truth about Thanksgiving

Several times in the past, I've highlighted Focus on the Family's wonderful audio series for families:

Expand your child's imagination: Adventures in Odyssey and Radio Classic Theater

But Maddy put one in the car CD player shortly before last Thanksgiving - yes, even grown up, she still LOVES Adventures in Odyssey and visits them like old friends - and I just had to bring it to your attention as it tells the true story of Thanksgiving, which will help kiids who are missing the authentic story in public school:

As you can see from Maddy still listening to them, any of these CDs are a worthy investment. My grown up kids still remember them and discuss them fondly. When you're thinking about Christmas gifts, think of things like this that will build your children's knowledge and character, knit their hearts together and be part of your family legacy,

Love,

How do these recordings fit in with Catholic teaching?

Michele - I can't vouch for them 100%, but I think discrepancies might be few and far between. You can listen to them with your kids or ask them to run anything by you that sounds different than what they know.

That said, I find it telling that Paul McCusker, who was the main writer and driving force behind the Odyssey series, converted to Catholicism in 2007 - http://www.ncregister.com/daily-news/storyteller_says_the_greatest_story_led_him_to_the_church/

I know when I announced my intention to become Catholic, many of my readers expressed surprise, thinking I already was one :) So I'm thinking that the stories are pretty compatible. They also weave in a lot of history, vocabulary and cultural information - very enriching.
