Curtis Family Thanksgiving picture
You all shared the pre-Thanksgiving build-up about out annual family photo - the angsting over the color, the absence of a couple of sons and their wives (Anna and Ben could not make the trip down because of work schedules and Josh and Hattie ate with her family before coming over to eat with ours).
So, I was tired of red and green and we settled on black this year, though as Ben pointed out, with denim jeans we seemed to be channeling Steve Jobs.
It was also a tricky year because we didn't have an outdoor setting that appealed to me like the stone wall we enjoyed at our previous address. So I set up shots inside and we spent nearly an hour on them before I decided to scrap everything and go outside with the bare trees and the dappled sunlight. Here are the results:
Yes, I did the usual - set the timer and ran to join the family. The line-up: Daniel (#11), Matt (#4), Samantha (#1), Trinity (S&K's #5), Kip (sweet son-in-law), Sophia (#7), Justin (#12), Andrew (S&K's #3), Jonny (#8), moi, Zach (#6), Lily (S&K's #6), Maddy (#9), Tripp (sweet hubby), Jesse (#10), Tim (S&K's #1) , Pat (S&K's #2) and Jeff (S&K's #4).
Here are the Walravens:
Here are Tripp and me with our unmarried kids:
Evidently, after I walked back up to the house with the tripod, they did a shot of the girls:
And of the guys:
Hattie's family served dinner at 3, and Josh and Hattie arrived just as we were sitting down to dinner at 5:15 - amidst grumbling from the brothers who wanted to eat earlier:).
The Five Kernels of Corn part of our Thanksgiving dinner was especially moving as nearly every member of our family spoke of how Josh and Hattie's testimony throughout their struggle with her cancer had strengthened their faith. Lots of reality and lots of tears.
Afterwards, I took pictures of Josh and Hattie:

I used your brining and corn pudding recipe. The turkey was great and the corn pudding is a new family must-have :) Thank you for sharing with us and I'm glad you had a happy Thanksgiving.
