5 Words Babies Use - 0-3 months

IMPORTANT! 5 words Babies Use (Baby Language)

I don't have any babies around, so I want to ask those of you with infants if you can identify these sounds in your babies?

Love,

This is incredible! I can't wait to have another baby & try it out. Once I heard the babies I thought, "Well, duh! That makes sense. Why hasn't anyone discovered this yet?!"

LaLeche league meetings always felt like this to me, both as a new Mom and then later when I was the older Mom. We didn't know these universal sounds (but Priscilla's discovery is fascinating!) but we did know how to 'read' babies and how to teach Moms to tune in to their own infants. I always noticed facial expressions. Another mom watched more for body language. We'd just say, "I think she wants to sit up, Mama," or, "I know she he just nursed but I'm pretty sure he's telling you he's hungry."

This 'system' might be a godsend for new Moms who don't have those older women to mentor them.

My sister told me about this before my son was born in 2009. My husband and I both learned to recognize the sounds, and it really made things so much easier for us (and our baby, too, I would imagine!). We also brushed up on the sounds before the birth of our daughter in 2011, and have recommended this to many friends (especially first time parents!) since first learning about the "baby language". It is invaluable information, especially for those who grew up around the "don't hold that baby so much or you'll spoil it" mentality.
