Sadly, his worldview gives control to the gatekeepers and he's simply pleading for them to do the right thing. It seems like people have grown so accustomed to passive reception of consumer goods that they don't know how to choose and control the purchase of goods, including information. I see this with my college students all the time.
Almost every site he mentions is not blog/individual based, but consumer/progressive based, with long term objectives.
As for the conservative viewpoints disappearing from pages - that would make for a very interesting experiment to see if it's a side-effect or deliberate. Given the political views of the various founders, and their coziness with this administration, I wouldn't be surprised if such selections were tweaked.
