Sophia's wedding - the celebration begins
What a wonderful week! Spending time with Sophia shopping for the wedding, the reception, the honeymoon. Watching Sophia sort through her stuff, dispersing much of it to her siblings, packing up the stuff she will be taking off to her new life as Mrs. Joshua Head :) With Tripp picking a song for the Father/Daughter dance (I love what they chose - will share after the wedding).
Yesterday the girls started arriving. Today the guys came in. The picture is lunch time. Note the huge pot which holds the four chickens I simmered to make Chicken Curry for dinner at 5:00.
By then the Head family will be here and all the Curtises and some Walravens (my grandsons have soccer games) - so everyone who hasn't met will have a chance to meet and bond. I think the count is 27. What I like about serving curry is all the toppings for everyone to choose from -peanuts, almonds, coconut, banana, avocado, bacon, sautéed onions, tomatoes - and the best: chutney.
The bridal party is spending the night here tonight - guys downstairs, girls upstairs. Big pancake breakfast tomorrow, then they are off to downtown Leesburg where Joshua and Sophia will get their license.
Tomorrow night is a bridal shower for Sophia while the Head men go camping. Friday morning all the ladies are going for manicures/pedicures - then the Curtis side is making centerpieces for the reception while the Heads decorate for the rehearsal dinner. Then the rehearsal. Then trying to sleep. Then off to church Saturday morning for the wedding.
I'm glad we are so busy. It keeps me from thinking about the fact that on Monday it will hit me that my daughter is gone. . . .
I posted this at Facebook 8 hours ago and so many people expressed interest in the details, I just wrote:
Since people are interested, I plan to write more tomorrow - a small window of opportunity in the early afternoon. I am traveling without good blueprints from previous generations, so happy to share what I'm learning along the way. This is our fifth wedding and I think I'm getting the hang of it :)
So, more tomorrow!

Thanks for a peek at this special time in your family's life. My prayer for Sophia and Joshua is patterned on a reflection on the Marriage Feast in Cana by Fr. Frank Pavone of Priests for Life.
May Sophia and Joshua's marriage be rooted in Christ and open to new life.
Hopefully, some time in the future - when your breakneck pace slows down to merely hectic - you'll share your curry recipe which sounds wonderful.

How wonderful! Please do let us know how you do it all. We are approaching that time with our oldest and are paying more attention to these kinds of details.
God bless you all!

Wishing Sophia and Joshua every happiness. I just celebrated my wedding anniversary this week and have many happy memories of my wedding day in Loudoun's countryside. I hope Sophia and Joshua's day is every bit as beautiful (the weather forecasts look great for Saturday!)
