Cosmopolitan and corruption - you can help!
We really do need to work on cleaning this up. Imagine being a little girl - or boy - assaulted in the grocery checkout line by these words and images so many adults have learned to tune out. Cosmo does not belong in grocery stores!
To a concerned mom:
My name is Nicole Weider and I'm a model in Los Angeles who has seen, firsthand, the damage that magazines like Cosmopolitan can do to a young girl's self-esteem -- and how influential and detrimental the advice from Cosmo can be.
Cosmopolitan, which started out as a family magazine more than a hundred years ago, has turned into a sex advice rag that degrades women in every single issue. I've received hundreds of letters from young girls about the disastrous effects Cosmo magazine has had on their life choices and self-confidence.
Therefore, I've started a movement to protect young girls from the inappropriate and sexual nature of these magazines. I believe Cosmo is the worst offender, and should be sold to and read by adults only. With cover lines like - "His Best Sex Ever," "Too Naughty to Say Here, "Wild Sex Stories," "50 Ways to Be Sexy This Summer," and "50 Sex Tips" - there is no escaping Cosmo's message of sex, sex, sex, especially when you are checking out at the grocery store. Victoria Hearst, granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst (who started Cosmo) has joined me in this movement to protect children from these covers!
Please help us in this mission to get Cosmopolitan sold in a non-transparent bag and only to adults.
I ask you to please share the Anti-Cosmo Mission with your audience. To help, people can:
1. Sign the petition on Change.org.
2. Share the website, AntiCosmoMission.com, with friends and family to raise awareness about this terrible magazine.
3. Download this letter to give to the store manager of any store where Cosmo is displayed and print this flyer to post in their local market.
To learn more about the Anti-Cosmo Mission please visit the website to read the devastating letters from young girls. You'll also get an in-depth look at Cosmopolitan's sexually explicit content. Warning, what you will see may shock you. But hopefully with your help we can protect our kids from it!
