Brother Sun, Sister Moon - must-see movie
This is a gem by Franco Zeferelli on the life of St. Francis of Assisi. Music by Donovan.
I first saw it in a church basement during my wild and crazy days in San Francisco - long before I became a believer. There was a group of hippies who toured the country in a bus and showed it wherever they landed for a "love offering."
While it would be many years before I made a commitment to follow Christ, this movie had a major impact on me and planted seeds I never knew were quietly growing for many years. It also saved Tripp's and my marriage in 1983 when we had separated only months after our wedding and I invited him to see it with me at the Parkside Theater on Taraval Avenue.
We have probably seen it 20 times since then - with various assemblages of our children - and still love it.
