White Christmas....

white christmas.jpg
Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria.  And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child.  While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth.  And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn.

In the same region there were some shepherds staying out in the fields and keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord suddenly stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them; and they were terribly frightened.  But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid; for behold, I bring you good news of great joy which will be for all the people; for today in the city of David there has been born for you a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying,

"Glory to God in the highest,

And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased."

                                               The Gospel of Luke

Barbara always loved a White Christmas, so I think she arranged it special for us now that she is Heavenside.  Maddy sang last night at the Christmas vigil while I sat alone for the first time at Christmas.  This Christmas is a first for Barbara as well as she joins with all the other saints and Heavenly host giving glory to God in the highest. Though tears are falling and our hearts are aching yet, we rejoice in the Birth of Our Savior and are blest with the comfort and love Our Heavenly Father has surrounded us with.

"For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."                       The Book of Isaiah

In His grip,

thank you for posting today and sharing. I miss Barbara every day.......your thoughts on her Christmas--being with other saints and Heavenly hosts--is so comforting. To think of her with our's hard to explain, but it takes away some of the "sting" of her absence.

Continuing to pray for you and your family daily and taking joy in knowing that our Heavenly Father is always vigilant in his love and care for all of us.

Merry Christmas, peace, & joy!

Merry Christmas to your family! We, too, have one of our beloved family in Heaven for his first Christmas, and I know he is rejoicing with the angels in the presence of Jesus. Although we miss him terribly, we are assured that we will be there with him one day. I pray that your family will feel a special nearness and the unwavering love of our Lord and Savior today and in the year ahead as you miss your sweet mother, wife and grandmother.
