A Good and Perfect Gift

[Kathryn, Ellen, and Debbie S. are the winners of this giveaway. Thanks to all who entered! And thanks to Bethany House for sponsoring it! You can find A Good and Perfect Gift at Amazon.] a good and perfect gift.jpg

Did we need another book about Down syndrome?  compared to 1993, when Jonny was born, there was one book around for parents.  Now there are countless books - including books by parents about their own experience being surprised by a baby with Down syndrome.

So did we need another book?  After reading Good and Perfect Gift, A: Faith, Expectations, and a Little Girl Named Penny, I would have to say Yes! Yes! A thousand times Yes!

Beautifully written by a woman whose special daughter has opened her eyes to the world in a new and wonderful way, this book will open yours too.

I'm reminded that when Jonny was a toddler and our family realized how different we were because he was in our lives, my son Matt, then 9 years old, said, "Wouldn't the world be a better place if every family had someone with Down syndrome?

Wouldn't it indeed?

This is a beautiful read because it's by a mother of a child with Down syndrome who also is a professional writer. And finally, what sets this book apart is that Amy is a Christian whose scriptural insights illuminate her experience of mothering Penny.

The title is from James 1:7:  Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

So true.

Bethany House has promised 3 copies of Good and Perfect Gift to MommyLife readers. You don't have to have a child with Down syndrome to love this book.  Please leave a comment for a drawing December 1.

Love,

I would love to read this book. My eyes have been so opened to the wonderful "gift" of that little extra chromasome from reading your blog. It seems that God is providing the rest of us with an example of pure and childlike love that we can only hope to emulate.
